32. The Promise

32. WITW II LS

Sometimes I wish the words would sleep,
For from deep rest they often keep,
Me awake the whole night long,
Not writing them down would be just wrong.

It pains me now to stay awake,
As the day has caused my body to ache.
But I’ve been tasked to write the words,
So that the meaning can proudly be heard.

I cannot leave the words behind,
So I let them march throughout my mind.
I made a promise to the words I’d keep,
As I try this night so hard to sleep.

For what you feel I truly know,
Even though at times I don't let it show.
That deep within your searching heart,
The words will guide you where to start.

So when you’re lost and cannot find,
A message to ease your troubled mind,
Read what I’ve written upon the page,
As you travel your life from age to age.

The words are like the mission bell,
They herald the message that I tell.
Let it guide you to a healing place,
Where the beauty of self you can embrace.
