Unsung heroes the military child,
Travels in their lives many a mile.
Innocent and pure they have no voice,
Born into a system without a choice.
The military soldier their family in tow,
Obediently moves where they are told to go.
Leaving behind their school and their friends,
Try to keep close with a paper and pen.
Moving round the world with bags in hand,
Thousands of miles from land to land.
Separated from family who live far away,
Time flies by a year and a day.
Christmas without grandparents birthdays afar,
Some spent on a bus, a plane or in a car.
Graduation celebrated in an unfamiliar state,
Are all part of the military child’s fate.
How do we thank them what do we say,
When your grown this way of life will be taken away.
The sacrifices you’ve made is a secret well kept,
As you pack for another move the country safely slept.
They are our country’s pride and joy,
Every single military girl and boy.
Our country’s freedom is a portrait of grace,
Found in each precious military child’s face.
Dedicated to my most precious unsung heroes, Amy, Joshua and Shaun.
Your sacrifice will not go uncounted.
