There is a hush upon the house,
When all that I am held responsible for sleep.
It is as if I have been somehow holding my breath all day,
Waiting for night to fall when all lay in slumber to breathe.
In the quiet of the night I find solace,
Comfort in the time when the demons of those I love are at rest.
They are not screaming out to me from a painful face,
An anguished voice, a shuffled foot fall.
All is at rest now…just breathe.
For tomorrow will soon be upon my door.
