41. A Day for Me

41. WTTS SK

I have decided to take this day just for me,
To be alone with nature and to commune with my Inner Self,
To be beholding to no one and to no time.

I will put aside the guilt of all the things that need tending,
For the rest and retreat my mind and body yearn for.
I will let the hours simply slip away while I care not for them.
I will use this quiet time to pen some thoughts, to doze,
And to languish in the memories I have carefully stored away.

The place I have chosen to spend this interval has been a comfort to me in times past.
Each time I visit this special place I find in it new treasures to cherish.
The air today is crisp and has the bouquet of renewed life.
The water glides by as the sun shines down her approval on,
The choice I have made today to give something back to myself.

The birds of the water spend the day with me.
They entertain me as they frolic about the water’s surface.
Watching them reminds me of all the enjoyment nature has to offer.

The day moves effortlessly by.
I take a stroll to stretch and to explore all that surrounds me.
I see nature’s beauty even in the colorful weeded flowers,
That are scattered alongside the rocky footpath.

The river gently laps the uneven shoreline.
To my ear it is the sound of tranquility and calming peace.
I sit for a time on a rock ledge to watch a seagull perform a solo dance for me.

The sun now sinks lower in the clouded sky.
The heavens become the painter’s pallet; the night will soon be here.
How I hate to leave this tranquil place.

Like all of my other cherished memories I will store this day away,
To call upon it when the stresses of life are heavy and weigh me down.
Good-bye for now,
I will return when I am able to once again set aside another day just for me.
