I thought that you loved me best,
I felt you would always be there for me,
For I was your special one.
Then God called you home to him,
He took you away and left me to struggle alone.
You were the tough one,
You were my voice and my strength.
Time does not heal the pain of your passing,
The void that is left will never be filled.
My life has little comfort now,
I miss your tender care.
I feel my trials are wearing thin on the ones I call friends.
What I want I cannot have,
What I have I cannot bear.
I yearn to leave this place and be with you,
But many need me here,
My tasks are great.
Somehow I must go on,
Send to me your strength,
Your special one.
