8. On the Floor Again

– Landscape People

Here I am on the floor again.
It is on the floor in this small room that I hide,
When the pain has beaten the resolve I have to go on in spite of its ominous presence.

It is shaded here and the air has a chill upon it,
Nowhere on earth do I feel so all alone.
To my ear I can hear life going about its business as usual all around me,
Though the sound of its workings seems distant.

In my shame I hide here,
Away from the eyes of a word that has numbed itself to my constant suffering.
As the pain batters my body and despair plagues my mind,
I lie here trying to let go of the struggle.

I am heavy and as I sink deep into the floor I make a silent prayer,
That somehow it would pull me into its depths,
Like sand sifting through the cracks of time making me disappear without a trace.

Oh how I wish that this would be the last day that I would ever have to be,
On the floor again.
