24. Teacup Reflections

#7

– What's for Dinner

In the chill of a deep March evening,

While warming myself with a bit of tea,

I observed a veiled image at the bottom of my cup.

It was the likeness of a woman and she seemed vaguely familiar to me.

Pain and sadness concealed her identity for it clouded her true outer beauty.

Who was this shrouded soul?

She seemed to call out to me for comfort.

I reached out to her but she faded slowly away.

At that moment I realized why she seemed so very intimate,

For the likeness at the bottom of the teacup,

Was indeed a reflection of me.
