You tell me it’s safe to return home the demons are in check,
No harm will come to me within these walls.
Though you mean it from the depth of your being,
The sickness has a hold on you that you cannot yet control.
My fragile state cannot withstand the constant pain of our dysfunctional lives.
Over these past long months my strength has been depleted,
Daily survival takes all that I have left.
Your illness will hurt me again,
It knows no other way.
