It is the giving of oneself that makes a relationship thrive,
The shared secrets of the heart, the fears of the soul and the hopes for the future.
If the relationship is secure,
The giving of oneself flows effortlessly as it tests the bonds that hold the union strong.
But it is in the giving of oneself a sacrifice is made,
The sharing places the giver in the precarious position of being judged.
The giving then becomes stifled and the relationship suffers in the aftermath.
The giving of oneself it is a gift that is fragile and pure,
Be prudent with whom you share it,
For it is a piece of yourself that may not be understood and can never be retrieved.
